- Verse 11
“Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.”
My Notes
What Does Isaiah 62:11 Mean?
Isaiah announces a proclamation that reaches to the ends of the earth: tell the daughter of Zion — your salvation is coming. And He's bringing His reward with Him and His work before Him. The salvation isn't vague or distant. It's arriving. It's on the road. And it's carrying what it intends to give.
The phrase "his reward is with him" means the salvation doesn't arrive empty-handed. It brings payment, recompense, restoration. Whatever was owed — whatever was stolen, broken, or destroyed — the coming salvation brings the remedy with it.
Jesus quotes a version of this verse at His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The daughter of Zion — Jerusalem — was told to look for her salvation. And salvation rode in on a donkey. The proclamation that reached to the ends of the world was fulfilled by a carpenter entering a city gate.
Reflection Questions
- 1.What 'reward' do you need salvation to bring — what has been lost that needs restoring?
- 2.How does thinking of salvation as a person (not an idea) change your expectations?
- 3.What does it mean that Jesus fulfilled this prophecy riding into Jerusalem — how does that scene match Isaiah's proclamation?
- 4.Are you watching the road? What does 'looking for salvation' look like in your current season?
Devotional
Your salvation is coming. And He's not arriving empty-handed.
Isaiah's proclamation reaches to the end of the world: tell Jerusalem, tell everyone — salvation is on the way. And it's bringing reward. It's bringing work. It arrives with what you need in its hands.
This isn't salvation as an idea. It's salvation as a person. A person who comes with reward — the restoration of everything that was lost. A person who comes with work — the completion of everything that was left undone. Salvation shows up carrying the things you couldn't carry yourself.
Jesus fulfilled this entering Jerusalem. The crowds shouted. The donkey carried Him. And in His hands — invisible to most — was the reward He'd deliver through the cross and the work He'd complete through the resurrection.
If you're waiting for salvation — if something in your life needs rescuing, restoring, completing — Isaiah says it's already proclaimed. To the ends of the world. The salvation is coming. And when it arrives, it won't be empty.
The reward is with Him. Whatever you lost, He's bringing back. Whatever was broken, He's carrying the repair. Whatever was left unfinished, His work is before Him.
Look up. He's on the road.
