“According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.”
My Notes
What Does Micah 7:15 Mean?
"According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things." God promises to repeat the EXODUS: as He showed marvels during the original departure from Egypt, He will show marvellous things AGAIN. The new deliverance will be 'according to' the old one — patterned after it, comparable to it, as spectacular as the original. The exodus becomes the TEMPLATE for every future deliverance. What God did then, God will do again.
The phrase "according to the days of thy coming out" (kimei tzetekha me'eretz Mitzrayim — like the days of your going out from the land of Egypt) makes the exodus the STANDARD OF COMPARISON: the new marvels won't be unprecedented. They'll be LIKE the exodus — as dramatic, as powerful, as unmistakably divine. The exodus is the benchmark. The future deliverance will meet or exceed it.
The "shew unto him marvellous things" (ar'ennu nifla'ot — I will cause him to see wonders/extraordinary things) means God will DISPLAY the marvels: the showing is intentional, visible, designed to be SEEN. The marvellous things aren't hidden. They're SHOWN — put on display, made visible, demonstrated for observation. God's future deliverance will be as spectacular and as visible as the Red Sea parting.
Reflection Questions
- 1.What exodus in your past is the template for future marvels?
- 2.How does the original exodus setting the STANDARD change your expectations for God's future action?
- 3.What does God promising to SHOW (display visibly) teach about the nature of divine intervention?
- 4.What past deliverance guarantees that God will act 'according to' that pattern again?
Devotional
Like the exodus — THAT spectacular, THAT undeniable, THAT divine — I will show marvellous things again. The original deliverance from Egypt becomes the TEMPLATE for the future deliverance. What God did then, God promises to do again. The exodus isn't just history. It's a PATTERN.
The 'according to the days of thy coming out of Egypt' sets the STANDARD: the future marvels will be LIKE the exodus marvels. As dramatic as the plagues. As spectacular as the sea parting. As undeniable as walking through on dry ground. The exodus isn't just Israel's founding memory. It's the BENCHMARK for what God will do next. The bar is set at Red-Sea-level.
The 'shew unto him marvellous things' means the display will be VISIBLE: the future marvels won't be subtle, hidden, or deniable. They'll be SHOWN — put on display for witnesses, demonstrated visibly, made unmistakable. The same God who showed Egypt-level wonders before will show them again. The visibility is part of the miracle. The seeing is part of the salvation.
The promise connects PAST and FUTURE through the word 'according to': the past deliverance guarantees the future one. If God did it then (and He did), God will do it again (and He will). The exodus isn't just evidence that God CAN act. It's the template for how God WILL act. The future follows the pattern of the past. The new deliverance is modeled on the original.
What exodus in your past is the template for the marvellous things God will show you in the future?
