“And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.”
— Genesis 24:64
A woman of decisive action and hospitality, chosen through prayer and providence to become Isaac's wife and the mother of Jacob and Esau.
Her Story
Rebekah's story begins at a well, where Abraham's servant prayed for a sign to identify the right wife for Isaac. Rebekah appeared and generously offered water not only to the servant but to all his camels — a task requiring enormous effort and kindness. She left her family to travel to a distant land and marry a man she had never met, displaying remarkable courage. She became the mother of twins, Jacob and Esau, and played a pivotal role in the unfolding of God's covenant promises. Her story illustrates how God works through ordinary moments of kindness and courage to accomplish His extraordinary purposes.
