Psalms 67:7

Psalms 67:7
God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

My Notes

What Does Psalms 67:7 Mean?

"God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him." The psalm closes with both promise and consequence: God WILL bless us, and that blessing will cause the entire earth — to its farthest ends — to reverence Him. The blessing isn't private. It's visible. And the visibility produces universal fear/awe of God.

The sequence — blessing first, then universal fear — makes Israel's blessing the mechanism of global worship: when God blesses His people, the nations see it and reverence the God who blessed them. Israel's prosperity becomes a testimony. The blessing is missionary by nature — it doesn't stay with the blessed. It radiates outward to the ends of the earth.

The "all the ends of the earth" (kol afsei aretz — every extremity of the ground) is the most comprehensive geographic description possible: not just nearby nations but the remotest corners. The farthest communities, the most distant peoples, the places that seem beyond God's reach — even they will fear Him when they see what He does for His people.

Reflection Questions

  • 1.What blessing in your life could be a testimony that causes others to reverence God?
  • 2.How does your blessing being 'for the nations' change what you do with it?
  • 3.What does 'all the ends of the earth' teach about the reach of a visible, God-credited blessing?
  • 4.Are you hiding your blessing or displaying it in a way that points to God?

Devotional

God blesses us — and the whole earth sees it and stands in awe. The blessing isn't private. It's public. It's visible. And the visibility is the mechanism by which the ends of the earth come to fear God. Your blessing is their evidence.

The sequence matters: God blesses first. The earth fears second. The blessing produces the fear. The prosperity of God's people becomes the testimony that reaches the remotest corner of the planet. When the nations see what God does for His people, they don't just notice — they reverence. The blessing is inherently missionary. It radiates.

The 'all the ends of the earth' means there's no limit to the reach: not just neighboring nations. Not just trade partners. The ENDS — the farthest extremities, the most remote communities, the places that seem completely disconnected from Israel's story. Even THEY will fear God when they see His blessing. The testimony has no range limitation.

This verse reframes what blessing is FOR: it's not just for your comfort. It's for God's glory across the earth. When God blesses you, it's not primarily about you. It's about what the watching world concludes about God when they see your life. Your prosperity is God's billboard. Your blessing is His sermon to the nations.

What blessing in your life — if you let people see it and credit God — would cause others to stand in awe?
